The Outeniqua Oncology Centre is situated in George, which is regarded as the capital of the world-renowned Garden Route region. It is a freestanding unit, which was established in 1997 directly opposite the major private hospital in the George area, with a beautiful view of the Outeniqua mountain range.
The Centre has both chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment facilities and offers peripheral clinics in Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Stilbaai. The Unit is also in partnership with the local provincial hospital for consultation of oncology patients and provides radiotherapy treatment to the patients who are not referred to Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. Patient care is extended by maintaining a close working relationship with community resources. The staff of the unit live the values of Cancercare on a daily basis: compassion, accountability, respect and ethics. In light of Outeniqua Oncology Unit’s commitment to holistic and multiple-disciplinary care we strive to support patients and their families on their journey.
