Cancercare’s Panorama Oncology Centre is situated at the foot of the Tygerberg hills in the Northern suburbs of Cape Town and easily accessible from the N1 highway. Situated adjacent to the Panorama Medi-Clinic, the centre is within easy access from the N1 main route and only 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport and the Cape Town Central City.
The building was planned to use as much natural light as possible and to conform to “green standards”. The large open windows are creating a spacious internal environment complimented by the natural backdrop of the mountains.
The centre was originally founded in 1990 by Dr Leon Gouws and Partners “GVI” and was a first of its kind in the Northern suburbs of Cape Town. Originally situated in the Karl Bremer Hospital, the centre was moved in 2011 to its current premises. It is the largest centre in the Western Cape. Panorama Oncology provides patients with state-of-the-art, modern day cancer care. Cancercare Panorama Oncology is renowned for its work in the field of brachytherapy, being the first to do interstitial prostate implants.
The radiotherapy units are very advanced with IMRT and VMAT techniques and radiosurgery offered to lung tumours and brain and head and neck tumours. This unit was recently equipped with a new, state-of-the-art Elekta’s Versa HD™ linear accelerator for advange radiation therapy treatment.
The chemotherapy units offer international standard chemotherapy using tested protocols. There is liaison with a clinical trial unit where some of the newest biological agents are tested with known chemotherapy regimes.
