Dear Patients,

Cancercare units will remain operative during the lockdown period. For your wellbeing and safety and that of our staff we have implemented the following measures:

• As a precautionary safeguard the number of visitors in the chemotherapy and waiting room is restricted. No family or friends to accompany patients to the chemo room unless medically necessary.
• Patients who are generally feeling unwell ( fever, dry cough, fatigue, loss of taste or smell) and those who have travelled from infected areas should refrain from visiting our facilities. Please cancel your appointment should these symptoms be prevalent.
• Consultations with oncologists can be made via telephone.
• Patient letters will be made available allowing patients to travel in order to receive treatment, alternatively utilise your appointment card during this time.
• You may be required to undergo a verbal screening on entering the facility.
• Patients will be required to sanitise their hands on entering the unit.
• Practice social distancing by maintaining a 1 meter distance between our staff and other patients , chemotherapy chairs have also been arranged to allow for this.
• In order to reduce patient waiting times in the waiting rooms you may be requested to remain in your vehicle until called by the secretary or alternatively arrive on schedule.

The above is imperative in being able to provide continuity of care during these uncertain times, the well being of our patients and staff is of utmost importance.

We must all urgently try and prevent the spread of COVID19 and only leave your home if absolutely necessary.

Take care!
The Cancercare team.
