Cancercare is pleased to welcome Dr Greg Dyer to the George unit, further strengthening our commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality oncology care to patients in the Garden Route region. Dr Dyer joins the team as a medical oncologist, bringing strong academic credentials and valuable clinical experience across a range of oncology settings.
Dr Dyer completed his MBChB at the University of Pretoria before furthering his training with a Master of Science in Medical Oncology, which he completed with distinction. His academic background reflects a strong focus on evidence-based cancer treatment and a commitment to advancing patient care through ongoing learning and clinical development.
Throughout his career, Dr Dyer has gained experience managing oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient environments. He has worked within multidisciplinary oncology teams, contributing to treatment planning, patient assessment, and ongoing care. His experience includes exposure to a wide spectrum of malignancies, as well as familiarity with modern systemic therapies and evolving oncology treatment approaches. In previous roles, he has also been involved in clinical research, patient recruitment for trials, and monitoring treatment response, further strengthening his comprehensive understanding of oncology care.
Dr Dyer is passionate about providing personalised care tailored to each patient’s diagnosis, treatment goals, and individual circumstances. He places strong emphasis on collaboration, working closely with referring doctors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care and the best possible outcomes. His approach balances clinical expertise with thoughtful communication, helping patients and their families feel informed and supported throughout their treatment journey.
With the addition of Dr Dyer, Cancercare continues to expand specialist oncology services in George, allowing patients to access expert care closer to home. Local access to treatment reduces the burden of travel and enables patients to remain supported by their families and communities during care.
