I was born in Zimbabwe where I did my primary, secondary education and then obtained my undergraduate medical degree at the University of Zimbabwe in 1989, followed by internship and Senior House Officer positions at the Harare Central and Parirenyatwa Hospital from 1990 to 1991.
On completing training, I emigrated to South Africa in February 1992, to work as a District Medical Officer in Peddie, Ciskei, for 3 years, then as a Medical Officer at Leratong Hospital for 1 year before specializing in Clinical Radiation Oncology at the University of Witwatersrand through which I completed my Fellowship of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in Radiation Oncology in April 1999.
I then went into solus private practice in Johannesburg and Vereeniging from 2001 to 2002 but detoured in 2002 to join Aventis Pharma as Medical Advisor for Oncology, as well as Affiliate safety Officer. In 2004 I returned to Clinical Practice by joining the Alberts, Bouwer and Jordaan Oncology Practice becoming a director in this practice in 2005, staying in the group in various stations until November 2015, after which I came back to solus practice at a new centre at Netcare Pinehaven Hospital, Krugersdorp.
While managing all types of cancers, and treating according to internationally benchmarked protocols, I have a particular interest in prostate, breast, colorectal, melanoma and skin cancer, central nervous system, lung, head and neck, and hematologic specialized radiotherapy techniques of brachytherapy, gamma-knife radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiosurgery and total body irradiation as an adjunct for stem cell transplantation.
